Separate earthquakes were reported, with a magnitude 4.2 tremor striking off the coast of Crete, Greece, and a Shindo 3 earthquake occurring in Japan's Iwate Prefecture, where no tsunami was expected.

【地震情報】岩手県で震度3 津波の心配なし
5日午前8時54分ごろ、岩手県で震度3の揺れを観測する地震がありました。この地震による津波の心配はありません。震度3の揺れを観測したのは岩手県の盛岡市と宮古市で、このほか震度2や1の揺れを北海道と東北の各地で観測しました。気象庁の観測によりますと、震源地は三陸沖で、震源の深さは30キロ、地震の規模を示すマグニチュードは5.2と推定されています。
