S. Korea warns of stern response to Japan PM's renewed Dokdo claim. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned a senior Japanese diplomat to lodge a protest after Prime Minister Fumio Kishida reiterated Japan's claim to the islets known as Dokdo in Korean and Takeshima in Japanese in a parliamentary speech on Monday. The ministry said that Japan's claim is an unjustifiable territorial infringement and a clear challenge to the international community. It also urged Japan to immediately withdraw its claim and refrain from actions that could further damage bilateral relations. The ministry added that S. Korea will respond sternly to any provocations that threaten its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
