Transgender persons ineligible to avail surrogacy services: Centre

The Centre has clarified that transgender individuals, regardless of marital status, are ineligible for surrogacy services under the Surrogacy (Regulation) Act, 2021. This ruling came after Kerala inquired about a legally recognized transgender woman married to a man seeking surrogacy. The law currently restricts eligibility to specific categories of intending couples and women.
