Austrian Government Extends Housing and School Aid Until 2029

The Austrian coalition government (ÖVP, SPÖ, NEOS) has agreed to extend the "Wohnschirm" (housing shield) and school start aid programs for three years, pushing their expiration from end of 2026 to end of 2029.

Die Regierungskoalition aus ÖVP, SPÖ und NEOS will den Wohnschirm und die Aktionen für den Kauf von Schulmaterial um drei Jahre verlängern. Beide Sozialmaßnahmen wären mit Ende 2026 ausgelaufen und sollen nun bis Ende 2029 gelten. Das geht aus einem Gesetzesentwurf hervor, der am Mittwoch in Begutachtung geschickt wurde.
