A thinktank called Labour Together, linked to Keir Starmer and Morgan McSweeney, has been exposed for investigating journalists who were looking into the group’s funding. One of those journalists was the Guardian’s Henry Dyer. He tells Helen Pidd how he found out and why it matters
Labour Together, a thinktank that helped Keir Starmer get elected as Labour leader, has been found to have paid an external company to investigate journalists behind a series of stories that showed there were undeclared donations to the group ahead of the 2024 election.
The journalist who first published a story about the undeclared donations was the Guardian’s Henry Dyer. He was working for a website called Business Insider at the time. Five years after he wrote that story, he found out he was one of a number of journalists being investigated by Labour Together, precisely because of the digging he has done into the thinktank’s finances.
