Female Genital Mutilation Cases in Portugal Predominantly from Guinea-Bissau
In 2025, 292 cases of female genital mutilation were registered in Portugal's SNS, a 15% increase from the previous year, with the majority of victims originating from Guinea-Bissau and most being under nine years old when subjected to the practice.
