Fifty years on, Rajan’s death continues to be shrouded in mystery

It was on March 1, 1976, that P. Rajan, a student of Regional Engineering College, Kozhikode, was taken into police custody alleging links with Naxalites. Despite a prolonged legal battle by his father Eachara Varier, Rajan’s whereabouts still remain a mystery. The police personnel accused of being involved in the incident have all along protested their innocence. The incident left a deep impact on the State’s politics too.
