Navy to commission submarine hunter Malvan as China, Pakistan expand underwater fleet

The Indian Navy commissions the anti-submarine warfare vessel Malvan, adding to its fleet. This new ship is the second of eight Mahe-class vessels being built domestically. The navy plans to induct eighteen vessels this year, including other specialized ships. These shallow water craft are designed to counter underwater threats near the coast. The commissioning occurs amid rising submarine activity from China and Pakistan.
