A member of Parliament's Local Government and Rural Development Committee, John Darko, has criticised the government's proposed model for electing Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), arguing that allowing the executive to shortlist candidates defeats the purpose of direct elections.
