Puč ve Svazu sovětských socialistických republik (SSSR) v srpnu 1991 výrazně oslabil moc tehdejšího prezidenta SSSR Michaila Gorbačova, a naopak posílil jeho konkurenta Borise Jelcina, sdělili historici Kamil Nedvědický z Ústavu pro studium totalitních režimů a Matěj Bílý z Akademie věd - Ústavu pro soudobé dějiny.
