Indian Government Clarifies Passport's Role in Regulating Citizen Departure
The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, stated that a passport is a government-issued document primarily intended to regulate the departure of Indian citizens from the country. He also noted that only 8% of Indians currently possess a passport.
