India's sugar prices have reportedly risen by 16% due to an over-estimation of supply, rather than ethanol production. The government has adjusted its policies, allowing 10 lakh tonnes of raw sugar to enter duty-free after previously permitting 15 lakh tonnes for export in November 2025.
