Jelgava Residents Complain About Odor from Plastic Recycling Plant

Residents living near the "Nordic Plast" plastic recycling plant in Jelgava, Latvia, are complaining about a persistent unpleasant odor, leading to over 60 complaints to the State Environmental Service.

Par situācijas ķīlniekiem kļuvuši tie jelgavnieki, kuri dzīvo plastikāta pārstrādes rūpnīcas "Nordic Plast" tuvumā, jo ikdienā viņiem jāsadzīvo ar nepatīkamu smaku. Par to pērn Valsts Vides dienestā (VVD) saņemtas vairāk nekā 60 sūdzību. Pēc dienesta veiktajām vairākkārtējām pārbaudēm uzņēmums nolēmis investēt vienu miljonu eiro ventilācijas izbūvei un notekūdeņu attīrīšanas iekārtām.
