Latvia to Ban Meat Terms for Plant-Based Products Starting in 2029

On 18 August this year, a European Union (EU) regulation came into force stipulating that terms commonly used in the meat sector, such as “meat”, “bacon”, “steak” or “fillet”, may no longer be used for plant-based and other alternative products, the Ministry of Agriculture (ZM) told the LETA news agency.
