Life Sentence: South Korea's Ex-President Appeals Against Verdict

South Korea's former President Park Geun-hye has appealed her life sentence for corruption and abuse of power. The Seoul High Court handed down the verdict earlier this month, finding Park guilty on multiple charges including bribery, embezzlement, and abuse of state affairs. The appeal was filed by Park's legal team, who argue that the sentence is excessive and that the evidence presented was insufficient. Park, who was impeached and removed from office in March 2017, has maintained her innocence throughout the legal proceedings. The Supreme Court will now review the case.
