Map: ‘Explosive diarrhea’ parasite outbreak by state
A new map from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) shows the prevalence of Cryptosporidium, a parasite that causes watery diarrhea, vomiting, and stomach cramps, across the United States. The data, collected between 2017 and 2022, highlights states with higher reported cases of the illness, often referred to as ‘explosive diarrhea’.
