Scheduled to launch on Sunday aboard a SpaceX rocket from Cape Canaveral, Florida, this telescope is the US agency's most ambitious scientific mission since the James Webb Space Telescope in 2021.

NASA set to launch Roman telescope to map the universe

NASA is preparing to launch its Roman Space Telescope on Sunday aboard a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket, beginning a multi-year mission to create a vast new map of the cosmos. With a field of view far wider than Hubble’s, Roman will search for exoplanets and supernovae while probing the nature of dark matter and dark energy.
