Ornithologists Warn Urbanization Threatens Valuable Bird Habitat in Niš

The Society for the Protection and Study of Birds of Serbia (DZPPS) has warned that planned urbanization between Niš–Leskovac highway and Donje Međurovo village poses a serious threat to one of the most valuable bird habitats.

Društvo za zaštitu i proučavanje ptica Srbije (DZPPS) upozorilo je danas da su stručnjaci i udruženja za zaštitu prirode zabrinuti zbog najavljene urbanizacije prostora između magistralnog puta Niš–Leskovac i sela Donje Međurovo, sve do sela Bubanj, jer će to predstavljati ozbiljnu pretnju jednom od najvrednijih staništa ptica u kontinentalnom delu Balkana.
