Polish City Fined 3.5 Million Zloty for Tree Removal

A Polish city has been ordered to pay 3.5 million zloty for tree removal, as a court ruled that factors like drought or beavers causing replacement plantings to fail are not grounds for waiving the fee.

Opłata za usunięcie drzew nie może być umorzona, gdy większość nasadzeń zastępczych nie zachowała żywotności z powodu dzikiej zwierzyny, nadmiar bobrów czy suszę. Takie okoliczności nie są bowiem niezależne od zobowiązanego do jej uiszczenia.
