"Proto. How our proto-language reached the ends of the world": A confusion of tongues

The Western branch of the Slavic peoples lost contact with the Southern branch when the Magyars arrived in Europe at the end of the 9th century and drove a Uralic-language wedge between them.

Zachodnia gałąź słowiańszczyzny straciła kontakt z południową, gdy pod koniec IX wieku do Europy przybyli Madziarzy i wbili między nie uralskojęzyczny klin. Ekspansja języka italskiego – rumuńskiego – odepchnęła gałąź południową od wschodniej, z czasem więc wszystkie trzy grupy mówiące po słowiańsku przestały rozumieć siebie nawzajem.
