An air raid alert was activated in Kyiv at around 3 p.m. local time, followed by explosions in the city center about half an hour later. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said the attack damaged a non-residential building in the Shevchenkivskyi district, without providing further details.

Russian drone strikes Ukraine security service headquarters in Kyiv

A Russian drone struck the headquarters of Ukraine’s Security Service in central Kyiv on Friday, injuring at least 12 people and prompting President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to order a retaliatory response. The aircraft hit the SBU building on Volodymyrska Street, opposite St Sophia Cathedral, according to Zelenskyy. He said the drone had targeted the office of SBU head Oleksandr Poklad.
