Communities under the foot of Mt. Wilhelm in Chimbu Province are facing a food crisis after a second round of severe frost which wiped out gardens already weakened by months of El Niño drought. Heavy frost fell on the nights of Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd August 2026 across villages in Mitnande LLG, Kundiawa Gembogl District.
