Turkish authorities dig deeper into causes of juvenile crime
A parliamentary commission established to examine the causes behind children being drawn into crime will continue its work for an additional month, Ankara announced on Friday. The commission, which began its work in October, has been tasked with investigating the factors contributing to juvenile delinquency and proposing solutions. The extension of its mandate comes amid growing concerns about the rise in crime rates among young people in Turkey. The commission has reportedly interviewed various stakeholders, including educators, social workers, law enforcement officials, and families of young offenders, to gather comprehensive insights into the issue. The findings and recommendations of the commission are expected to be crucial in shaping future policies aimed at preventing and addressing juvenile crime in Turkey.
