Two Firefighters Who Died in Gironde Fires Posthumously Honored by France

Adjutants Wilfried Schmitter and Anthony Berthôme, who died fighting a fire near Mérignac airport the day before the Saumos megafire, have been posthumously cited to the Order of the Nation by France on August 6 for their sacrifice.
