Voice Phishing Scam Causes ¥1.3 Billion Loss for Japanese Companies

A series of 'voice phishing' incidents have resulted in approximately 1.3 billion yen in fraudulent transfers from over 30 companies using internet banking in Japan. Police are investigating the scam, where employees were tricked into installing remote control software.

インターネットバンキングを利用する企業に銀行をかたる自動音声の電話をかけるなどして社員にパソコンを遠隔操作できるソフトをインストールさせた上で、口座から不正送金を行う手口の被害が先月から相次ぎ、被害額は全国の30社以上で、あわせておよそ13億円に上っていることが捜査関係者への取材で分かりました。警視庁は「ボイスフィッシング」と呼ばれる手口とみて詳しい状況を調べています。
