The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has called on the European Union to review its emissions trading system to protect the competitiveness of its aviation sector, as EU countries remain divided over proposed reforms to the system.

Eurostat data for 2023 shows that 80.7 percent of the EU population is connected to wastewater treatment systems with at least secondary treatment, indicating steady progress in achieving clean water targets.
